"Traditional Catholic Church"
"Doctor of the Church"

Today the Traditional Catholic Church also celebrates the Holy Feast of, Saint John Damascene, Confessor. He distinguished himself against the Emperor of Constantinople for his defense of the veneration of sacred images. He was famous for his great knowledge, and for his theological method, which later was a source of inspiration to Saint Thomas Aquinas. After many persecutions, he faithfully pasted away in peace towards the latter part of the 8Th century. Pope Leo XIII ordered his feast to be celebrated by the Catholic Church. His many writings, his knowledge, piety, and eloquence caused him to be compared by the Second Council of Nicaea to a "river of gold." He was the last Byzantine to contribute anything to the formation of the Catholic theological structure. Thou he was not a bishop, nor a leader of men, by loving truth and preaching it fearlessly he became a light to shine the darkness of those separated from the apostolic communion.
