Saints Day
"Traditional Catholic Church"
Today the Traditional Catholic Church also celebrates the feast of Holy, Saints Philip & James. Saint Philip is one of the first chosen Apostles of Christ. On the way from Judea to Galilee Our Lord “God” chose Philip, and said to Him, “Follow Me.” Philip faithfully then followed Him; and then in his zeal and charity sought to him win Nathaniel also, saying, “We have found Him of Whom Moses and the prophets did speak of, Jesus of Nazareth;” and when Nathaniel in wonder asked, “Can any good come out of Nazareth?” Philip simply answered, “Come and see,” and he brought him to Jesus. Another saying of this apostle is documented for us by Saint John. Christ in His last discourse had spoken of His Father; “God” and Philip exclaimed, in the fervor of his thirst for God, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough.” Saint James the Less, the author of the inspired epistle writings, was also one of the Twelve Apostles. Saint Paul tells us that he was favored by a special apparition of Christ after the Resurrection. During the dispersion of the Apostles among the nations, Saint James was elected as Bishop of Jerusalem; and even the Jews held him in such high veneration of his purity, mortification, and prayers, that they named him the Just, meaning, “perfect”. The earliest followers of the Catholic Church historians has handed down many traditions of Saint James's sanctity. He was always a virgin, says Hegesippus, and was consecrated to God. He drank no wine, wore no sandals on his feet, but just a single garment on his body. He prostrated himself so much in prayer that the skin of his knees was hardened like a camel’s hoof. The Jews, it is documented, used out of respect to touch the hem of his garment. He was indeed a living proof of his own Holy words and works, “The wisdom that is from him above is first indeed chaste, then peaceable, modest, full of mercy and good fruits.” He sat beside Saint Peter and Saint Paul at the Council of Jerusalem; and then Saint Paul at a later time escaped the fury of the Jews by appealing to Caesar, the people took vengeance on James, and crying, “The just one hath erred,” not true but, stoned him to death anyway.😓️

Reflection: The Catholic Church commemorates on this same day, Saints Philip and James, whose bodies lie side by side at Rome. They represent for us two aspects of Catholic holiness, The first preaches faith, the second works; the one holy aspirations, the other purity of heart.❤️ 🤗️
