"Doctor Of The Church"

Today the Traditional Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Holy, Saint Anthony of Padua, Confessor. Saint Anthony, called "Saint Anthony of Padua" because of his long residence in that city, he was a native of Lisbon, Portugal, where he was born in the year 1195. He is venerated as one of the greatest Franciscan Saints. Saint Anthony was a profound theologian, a brilliant preacher, and a formidable foe of heresy, through the supernatural forces which seemed always at his command. For nine years he labored in France, Italy, and Sicily. The people who heard his voice, witnessed his miracles, and their hearts were turned to God. Nothing was lacking in the glories of Saint Anthony. He had a great desire for martyrdom, and on that account he entered the Franciscan Order and set sail for Mauretania. He was an apostle, and the fame of his fervent preaching filled Italy and Rome, where he proclaimed the word of God in the year 1227. Saint Anthony became renowned as a worker of miracles, and there are few cities which do not possess a church or alter dedicated to Him. He faithfully pasted away in the year 1231.
