Today the Traditional Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of, Saint Gregory Nazianzan, Bishop, Confessor. Saint Gregory, one of the Holy Fathers of the Greek Church, is called "The Theologian." Why?, because of his Holy and profound knowledge of Sacred Scriptures. He was born at Nazianzen of Cappadocia, Asia Minor. He was successively elected the Bishop of Sosina, Nazianzen, and Patriarch of Constantinople. His success of the Holy Faith drew upon Him much hatred from the enemies of the true Faith. He finally resigned his See and retired to his native town, where He faithfully passed away in the year 390. He as a champion of the Holy Faith, was so well equipped, so strenuous, and so exact that He is called Saint Gregory the Theologian. His firmness restored the Holy Catholic Faith, of the Council of Nicea to Constantinople; he was however, a man of gentle spirit after having written many pious works of Scriptural eloquence. Renouncing his bishopric he set his heart on the contemplative life and monastic discipline.
