Saints Day
"Traditional Catholic Church"
Today the Traditional Catholic Church also celebrates the Feast of, Saint Augustine of Canterbury, Bishop, Confessor. He was a Roman monk and sent by Pope Saint Gregory with forty companions to England to convert the people to Christianity. At Canterbury he erected a monastery, and there He established his Episcopal See. He is said to have baptized thousands of Englishmen in one day. The results far surpassed the expectations of the Pope, for God set his seal on the preaching of Saint Augustine by so great a number of miracles that the age of the apostles seemed to have come again. Ethelbert, the King of Kent, together with the chief persons of his court, was the first to receive Baptism from the hands of this Saint, who gave bodily health to the sick as well as salvation by Virgilius of Arles. Returning to England, He consecrated bishops for other Sees and established his own See. He faithfully pasted away May 26, in the year 609. This feast was placed on the Calendar by Leo XIII.
