Today the traditional Catholic Church celebrates a Mass for, Saint Januarius, Bishop of Beneventum, and his faithful companions, martyrs, who were beheaded during the reign of Diocletian. He is the patron of Naples where the liquefaction of his blood takes place annually when it is placed near the head of the holy martyr at the Holy Mass.
