Description
Today the Traditional Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Holy, Saint Albert The Great, Bishop, Confessor. He was born in the year 1206, Saint Albert the Great was the famous teacher of Saint Thomas Aquinas. Named to the Bishopric of Ratisbon, he retired to dedicate his talents to the writings and teachings of the Catholic faith. While still a student at the University of Padua in 1223, he joined the new Order of Preachers. He excelled particularly in the natural sciences, of which his knowledge was truly encyclopedic, and He is called, Universal Doctor of the Catholic Church. As a professor at Fribourg, at Ratisbon, at Paris and Cologne, he correlated the findings of natural science with philosophy, and He laid the foundations for the proper use of reason in matters of faith. This latter task was brought to perfection by his pupil and beloved disciple, Saint Thomas Aquinas. But his holiness, is deeper than his learning, centered mainly in a profound love of the Holy Eucharist. He was in turn Provincial of the Dominicans, Bishop of Ratisbon and theologian at the Council of Lyons in the year 1274. He Faithfully pasted away at Poland in the year 1288. He was beatified by Gregory XV in 1622. Pius XI proclaimed him a Saint and Doctor of the Catholic Church.
Reflection: As well watered ground avails more for fruit when the light of the sky grows warm, so shall we bring forth more abundant fruits when the flame of sacred learning burns more brightly in our hearts.
